DIPLOMACY IN MOTION: June 05, 2010: 6-9PM

June 5th the International Hospitality Council of Austin will host its 2nd annual fundraising event in honor of its 50th anniverary. "Diplomacy in Motion" is an international train ride through the Texas Hill Country and is intended to promote peace and understanding of cultures throughout Texas and the world. The air conditioned train is pulled by Austin Steam Train's 1960 Alco Engine. Passengers will enjoy the sights and sounds of the railroad as we cross highways, span the South San Gabriel River, and roll through pastureland, while enjoying the food and festivities happening throughout the vintage passenger cars. This fun-filled scenic route through the Hill Country is three hours roundtrip. The train will depart for Bertram, TX from the Cedar Park Train Depot at 6pm and return at approximately 9pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to our international student scholarship program. What a great way to learn about other cultures, enjoy the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and contribute to a great cause! Ticket prices: $40-$75 Space is limited! First Class sells out quickly.

Directions to Cedar Park train station:
From Austin and San Antonio on IH35 (easiest directions)
Drive North on IH35 and take exit #256 for RM1431. Turn left on RM1431, and drive west 8 miles. Turn right immediately after Best Western Motel into the Cedar Park Train Station. (401 E. RM1431/Whitestone Blvd in Cedar Park, TX) in the Depot at Cedar Park Shopping Center.

From Austin and San Antonio by way of 183- Drive north on IH 35 to Hwy 183. (Toll road section on Hwy 183 requires $1.50.) Exit on RM1431/Whitestone Blvd in Cedar Park and turn left (going west). The Cedar Park railroad station is a half mile on the right at 401 E. RM1431/Whitestone Blvd, in the Depot at Cedar Park Shopping Center, west of the Best Western Motel and situated between Double Dave's Pizza and Castle Dental.

If you wish to avoid the toll road on Hwy 183, exit Hwy 183 at Lakeline Mall Blvd and continue driving north on the frontage road. Follow the black and white signs for US 183, crossing under the toll road and continuing north for three miles to Hwy 1431. At Hwy 1431 turn right, cross the railroad tracks, and then immediately turn left into the parking lot.
